The Wolff’s Wedding at the Sirocco Golf Club

A Rustic Country Wedding Overlooking Pine Creek Valley

Getting Ready in the Late Morning for the Wedding

We started the day of Stephanie and Nick’s wedding in the late morning at her parents’ place, where the women were getting ready. Beginning with the detail shots, we photographed the wedding dress hanging on the window. The light outside gave her flowy dress a translucent glow and showed off the intricate lace embroidery. Her brother’s energetic Springer Spaniel hung out with the women in the morning, making a cute addition to the shots.

We photographed the final touches being put on Stephanie’s dress. With the last pins in place and a photo of Stephanie’s niece Cayleigh admiring her aunt’s beautiful gown, we wrapped up with the women, and they headed to the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the men were getting ready at Nick’s parent’s place, and we took advantage of the beautiful basement bar to get a few group shots of Nick and the guys. We captured a few getting ready shots of ties being tied and laces being laced and headed out to Sirocco Golf Club for the ceremony.

Before the guests arrived, we took the opportunity to photograph shots of the gorgeous decor in the clubhouse at the Sirocco Golf Club. The long tables at Sirocco were decorated with flower arrangements of Gerber daisies and candy favours, in their beautiful late summer colour combo of orange and violet. The eye-catching head table was covered by a white tablecloth, upon which sat masses of greenery, with ivy trailing across the front.

Their Outdoor Ceremony at Sirocco Golf Club

It was a warm day, with a slight breeze to cool everyone off. The skies were a bright blue, with fluffy clouds dotting the horizon and casting occasional patches of shade. The outdoor ceremony at the Sirocco Golf Club overlooks the Pine Creek Valley, offering an incredible backdrop for Stephanie and Nick’s ceremony! Nick’s mom added the finishing touches on the location, with barrels covered in roses decorating the space.

The ceremony was led by officiant Sharon Rhodes, who offered a lovely service. In the sweet and simple ceremony, the couple spoke their vows, exchanged their rings, and shared their first kiss and husband and wife! As they were signing their documents, a friend played a delicate musical accompaniment on ukulele, and mimosas were passed out for the guests.

After the ceremony wrapped up, the couple proceeded down the aisle, and their guests gathered around them for a big group shot. Stephanie and Nick had guests from all over Canada; from nearby in Alberta and all the way to Newfoundland. The guests were guided to cocktail hour at the clubhouse by Sarah Jane Jackson, Stephanie and Nick’s fantastic wedding planner.

With the group shot complete, we moved into family photos, beginning with Nick’s side, and wrapping up with Stephanie’s.

The Creative Formals on the Sirocco Golf Course

We were ahead of schedule, which meant extra time for creative formal photos. At Stephanie’s suggestion, we began with a walking shot along the road, the entire wedding party linking arms, smiles on their faces. It turned out great! Then, we hopped into the golf carts and drove along the pathway and over the bridge to an old wooden shed on the property. It sits crookedly, in a field with long windswept grasses. The spot was a gorgeous backdrop for the formals. After shooting individuals for each member of the party, the bridesmaids and groomsmen headed back to the reception while we hung back with the newlyweds. We photographed them next to the shed, which leaned at a dramatic angle as if it were being pushed over by the same breeze that blew through the fields. We then wrapped up the photos and made our way back for the grand entrance.

The Wolff Reception at Sirocco Golf Club

Jerry, the emcee, a long time friend of Nick’s dad, kicked off the reception with a few hilarious anecdotes, and he would continue to keep the atmosphere light and the jokes coming throughout the evening! He introduced the newlyweds, and Stephanie and Nick made their grand entrance as the new Mr. and Mrs. Wolff. They then sat down to a delicious meal of salads; entrees of salmon, chicken or beef; mixed veggies and sides; and a dessert of delightful creme brûlée.

After dinner, the sun was beginning to set, so we moved back outside with Nick and Stephanie to catch those last rays of light. Near the entrance to the clubhouse, a lookout scans over a backdrop of foothills. The setting sun was in a perfect position, dropping to the ridge of the hills. As it descended, we photographed the newlyweds in the warm glow until twilight fell.

Back inside, it was time for cake cutting. The cake was an orange-iced single-tier, decorated with a wooden ‘Mr. and Mrs. Wolff’ sign. It was surrounded by mini cupcakes that decorated the table. Speeches followed, with the maid of honour (and Stephanie’s sister) Jennifer standing up first. The best man, Alex, followed her, then both sets of parents spoke, and Nick and Stephanie wrapped up with a thank you to everyone for being part of their special day.

From speeches, the party moved into the dance. Nick and Stephanie kicked things off with their first dance as a married couple. Then the bride and groom danced with their respective parents before everyone poured out onto the dancefloor. The evening was high energy, with a group of guys tearing it up, seeming like they could never run out of steam. DJ Fayyaz of PEZ Productions knew how to read the crowd, and kept the group dancing into the night!
