Just the other night my wife Jen and I were having dinner talking about our favourite Ice Bucket Challenge videos when our call to action came in. We have been nominated by Andrew Marks and whether or not you love or hate these videos they are raising awareness for a disease that is rarely in the spot light. This year the Ice Bucket Challenge has brought in $70.2 million in donations and when you contrast that to last years $64 million for the entire year it’s definitely raising awareness.

We have a very close family friend Cheryl Cody who was diagnosed last year with ALS, so this cause is very close to our hearts. In honor of Cheryl Cody and all those that suffer from ALS, we’ve decided to take the #ALSIceBucketChallenge to hopefully encourage you to donate, volunteer and research more about ALS.

A little background on ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. As described on the ALS Associations website “It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.”

In addition to taking a refreshing ice bath we will also be making a donation on Cheryl’s behalf as well as making a few nominations. We haven’t seen too many nominations in our social networks so we wanted to nominate 4 groups of people to hopefully inspire our connections to take the challenge.

The Cody family which are Cheryl’s husband Ken and her three daughter’s Kim, Heather and Chelsea and we would love to see you all do this as a group if possible.

Our next team nomination is Sal and Taylor Cinncotta with Salvator Cincotta Photography. Even though we haven’t had the opportunity to meet either of you yet, your teaching has completely changed our business, our photography studio and our lives. My wife and I would like to personally thank you for always responding to our questions, sharing your vast knowledge and being an inspiration to everyone you teach.

We would like to also nominate Katherine Dolan with Mommy Connections. She is one of our vendor partners. We would love to see her and a bunch of her mom’s get out there to take on the ice bucket challenge.
